Press Release Deft/Daft Draft

ORGANIZATION (WHAT SHOULD GO HERE?)

Exposed: Artists take over building.

MARCH 29-31, 2007 – New work by emerging artists will be displayed in the ¬¬NAME building, currently under construction in downtown Orlando at ADDRESS.

“Exposed,” features 30 artists who have teamed up with a local developer for a unique, guerilla-style exhibition. Work includes painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and video, in a variety of styles and approaches.

Viewing will be available Thursday, March 29th – Saturday, March 31st each night from 6-9pm. Exhibit is free and open to the public.

“Shows like this are becoming more and more popular. There is something exciting about walking into a room and not knowing what to expect other than ‘this is going to be good,’” said Jonathan Scarboro, one of the artists arranging the exhibition.
I’M NOT IN LOVE W/ THE SECOND HALF OF THE SECOND QUOTED SENTENCE (and not knowing – going to be good). ANY IDEAS?

I WANT TO HAVE A QUOTE FROM MELINDA ABOUT WORKING WITH US HERE. (I'LL E-MAIL HER LATER)

WHO WANTS TO BE THE SPOKESPERSON TO BE CONTACTED FOR MORE INFO? THIS WOULD MEAN GIVING OUT YOUR PHONE # AND E-MAIL, AND KNOWING HOW TO ANSWER QUESTIONS.

ANY OTHER THOUGHTS? THINGS I NEED TO ADDRESS? I’LL FILL IN THE REST OF THE RELEASE ONCE I HAVE THE CONTENT DOWN.

I have opened gmail account specifically for our exhibition. Any mass emails and promo for the show can be sent out from this account. We can also be used to recieve any inquiries about show info. I am currently compiling contact lists through various sources, so that when the time comes, we could possibly send out mass email invitations. This is free and effective!
The email address is ucfbfa@gmail.com
See You Tonight!!

You could just end the sentance with ". . .not knowing what to expect."

P.S. If you think the email address should be changed to a different name (which does not include UCF or BFA) let me know and I can open a different account. I would have made the address something like exposedexhibition@gmail.com, but I didn't know if the title for the show (Exposed)was certain.

i agree that a different address could be better. from my understanding, we are trying to avoid the 'student work' connotations of ucf or bfa. as for now, just keep compiling in the current address book and we'll import it when we have a new one. i THINK that everyone is set on the title, so your suggestion sounds good to me.

Seconded. And yes, the title is definite.

Perhaps now is a good time to mention that I have begun a myspace page for our exhibition, and if you don't mind, could I borrow some of what's been stated in the press release to state the exhibition's purpose in the body of the webpage? and I would also like to post a link to the e-mail address so that questions can be posed through the site as well.
Otherwise, I think its a good start. Well said.

Opening a new email account will be easy.
In the meantime, if anyone has contacts to add to the email lists-please send them to ucfbfa@gmail.com

Could "prints" be included in the line of "works will include...?"

Thanks

ok, so the official title is now:

Exposed: A 30-Artist Takeover

in case you wanted to include that in the release.

Danielle, I think it's important to allow the MySpace account the option for comments, friending, and sending messages. This is an opportunity for people to ask questions if they have any and for us to friend the account if people want to know who the artists are.
